After toying around with the idea for a while, I’ve finally started a blog! I will be focusing on education, specially, my experiences bringing computer science education to middle and high schoolers, with some other bits of my work and life mixed in.
As a part of my volunteering with TEALS, I realized that the effort to bring computer science education into schools is still tiny, despite the great efforts of many people and organizations for years. Despite how heavily the word depends on software, in the 2015-16 school year, only 40% of schools reported having any computer science classes.
I want to fix that number. And as I’m working on it, I’m learning a lot along the way about how to be an educator and about what education means. I’ve been helping others learn to code, in one way or another, for the past 10 years, and the biggest thing I’ve learned is just how much there still is to learn. This blog will be my log of lessons learned along the way, and I hope you enjoy following along.
